A Region of Dynamic, Progressive and Friendly People
The overall population density of the region is less than one person for every two square kilometers, so you'll never feel crowded in the Yellowhead. But, you'll always feel welcome and a part of it all.

The area is comprised of ten member communities and five rural municipalities with over 10,000 residents who cooperatively and creatively energize a safe, dynamic and successful business and community environment.

The Value of Education
Education is important here with almost one in five residents enrolled in the elementary, junior and senior high programs across the region. A higher than provincial average proportion of area residents have trade certificates or diplomas (19.1 versus 15.2 percent) and those with college diplomas or certificates match the provincial average.

The Region's Occupational Profile
The region's occupational profile closely parallels its primary economic activity with almost one in three working people in occupations related to agriculture or mining. Sales and service occupations employ one in five area residents, just ahead of trade, transport and equipment-operator occupations at 18 percent to complete the top three occupational sectors.

Jobs in finance, business and administration employ 10 percent of residents, eight percent in health care and two percent in manufacturing.

Here Community and the Outdoors are Always Close and Accessible
Community organizations and facilities are active across the region reflecting the proactive and wide-ranging interests and commitment to the community.

Traditional agricultural-related organizations, 4-H and rodeo are active, along with organized sports organizations and associations including men's and women's hockey, baseball, soccer, curling, cross-country and downhill skiing, figure skating, swimming, golf and bowling. Arts and cultural organizations thrive and include visual and performing arts including theatre and music.

Community Clubs and Organizations
The area includes service clubs like Lions and Rotary and fraternal organizations such as the Knights of Columbus, Freemasons and Odd Fellows.

Abundant Wildlife and Natural History in Every Season
The Yellowhead supports not only the area's diverse agricultural economy but an exciting range of seasonal outdoor activities as well. Precipitation is split almost evenly between warm and cold seasons with abundant snow to support winter recreation. Here nature prevails, and there are plenty of opportunities to appreciate the wildlife native to the area like white-tailed deer, moose, elk, black bear, coyote, hare, fox and abundant and diverse bird life.
